Verónica Costa

Verónica Costa began playing the violin at the age of seven in a small town in Northern Portugal under the guidance of Professor Anna Katrochvilova. She later continued her studies with Rui Costa until completing high school.

Following this, she pursued a Bachelor’s degree at ESART in Portugal, where she studied with Professors Augusto Trindade and Alexandra Trindade.

In 2022, Verónica moved to the Netherlands to continue her education with Pavel Fischer, first violin and founder of the Škampa Quartet, an internationally acclaimed chamber musician and a major influence in her musical journey. Under his guidance, she has deepened her connection to chamber music, which has become one of her main artistic passions.

Throughout her development as a young musician, Verónica had the opportunity to perform in a wide range of youth orchestras both in Portugal and internationally. She was a member of ensembles such as the Jovem Orquestra Portuguesa (JOP), the Orquestra Académica Filarmónica Portuguesa (OAFP), Estágio Gulbenkian Orquestra, the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO), and the Nationaal Jeugdorkest (NJO). Noteworthy are also some solo performances, in 2018 in Portugal with the Orquestra Académica da Universidade de Lisboa and in 2024 with the Leiden Sinfonietta.

Currently based in the Netherlands, Verónica enjoys a versatile career as a freelance violinist. She regularly performs as a tutti violinist with professional ensembles such as the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra and Sinfonia Rotterdam. Alongside orchestral work, she is deeply committed to chamber music, collaborating with fellow musicians in a variety of ensembles and projects.

In addition to her professional activities, Verónica is occasionally invited to serve as concertmaster in smaller and amateur orchestras, a role that allows her to share her experience, inspire young or developing musicians, and contribute to the wider musical community.
