Vera Fonte holds a PhD degree from the Royal College of Music (London, UK), where she developed research on musical memorisation and worked with pianist Andrew Zolinsky. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Piano and a Master’s degree in Music Teaching from the University of Minho, where she studied with Luís Pipa. She has recently continued her artistic development with Robert Durso, a leading pedagogue in the Taubman Approach and a disciple of Dorothy Taubman.
She has received several national and international distinctions, including the Platinum Award at the Nobel-Artist International Music Competition, the Career Prize at the Tiziano Rosetti International Competition, and Second Prize at the Calabria International Music Competition (2023).
Vera performs regularly as a soloist and chamber musician in Portugal, Italy, the Netherlands, Serbia, and England. Strongly committed to contemporary music, she has collaborated with numerous composers and premiered works by António Victorino d’Almeida, Luís Pipa, Dan McBride, Wynton Guess, and Paulo Bastos.
Between 2018 and 2025, she served as Guest Professor at the University of Minho. Since 2021, she has been Guest Adjunct Professor at the Castelo Branco School of Applied Arts, and since 2023 she has co-coordinated a module on musical memorization at the Royal College of Music. She has also held the position of Vice-President of EPTA Portugal since 2014.
In 2025, Vera relocated to Eindhoven to develop a cultural project through which she is implementing the pedagogical, artistic, and research principles she has cultivated over the past years.
